It is Cannoli! Finally! And Happy Holidays!

I finally got my hands on my first pint of Cannoli. I have been waiting for this since the flavor came out in late September. It is amazing how many stores have it here in New York but the closest store to me when I am in Michigan is over 30 miles away. I guess that is what happens when you go to school in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, here is the review.

Ben and Jerry's Cannoli is Mascarpone Ice Cream with Fudge Covered Cannoli Pastry Shell Chunks & a Mascarpone Swirl.

If you like extremely sweet ice cream, this flavor is for you. I found that the mascarpone ice cream is very sweet which is something you notice right away in the first spoonful. There are a lot of fudge covered cannoli pastry shells in the pint. They add a nice crunch to the texture along with adding another level of sweetness to the flavor.

One thing that I did not notice in the pint are the mascarpone swirls. I was thinking that maybe the swirls are blended into the mascarpone ice cream. If that is the case, I can't really tell the difference between the ice cream and the swirl. This could explain why the ice cream seems extra sweet.

I probably will not have another flavor until I go back to Michigan right after New Year's. I will let you guys know when I get the new Ben and Jerry's flavor.

Thanks for reading! Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Pumpkin Cheesecake!

Pumpkin. It is one of my favorite things about this time of year. I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin  donuts, pumpkin bread, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin-smelling candles and craving pumpkins around Halloween. And when I heard that Ben and Jerry's was releasing their limited batch Pumpkin Cheesecake, I wanted to get a pint before the season was over.

I was not able to get the flavor last year but I heard that the flavor was being sold at Wal-Mart, which is now my primary supermarket. I have been looking for this flavor there since it was re-released in late September/early October. I found it on Thursday, and it freezer looked like it was recently restocked so I wonder if they just got the flavor. Nevertheless, I have it and it is time for a review!

Ben and Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake consists of pumpkin cheesecake ice cream with a graham cracker swirl.

You can smell the pumpkin as soon as you open the top of the pint. But I found that the actual pumpkin flavor of the ice cream was not very overpowering. The cheesecake made the ice cream extremely creamy and smooth and it mellowed the pumpkin flavor a little bit. This allowed all 3 of the major flavors (the pumpkin, cheesecake, and graham cracker) to be equally presented.

In my pint, the graham cracker was not an actual "swirl". It was very much blended into the pumpkin cheesecake ice cream. Even though there wasn't a true graham cracker swirl, I did have some chunks of graham crackers in a couple of spoonfuls. You can also taste a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon within the ice cream as well. It is a nice combination of flavors.

This will probably be the last review for a few weeks (until mid-December at the absolute earliest). It is the end of the semester and I have finals coming up. I will be done in 2 weeks and will be driving back home to Long Island for the first time in 4 months! When I am home, I will definitely be on the lookout for Cannoli.

Thanks! And to all of the students out there: Good luck on your finals!
