New Review! Ben and Jerry's Cookies and Crea Cheesecake Core Ice Cream

New review alert!

This time it is Ben and Jerry's Cookies and Cream Cheesecake Core Ice Cream. The flavor consists of Chocolate and Cheesecake Ice Creams with Chocolate Cookies and a Cheesecake Core.

Let me start off with the fact that I LOVE Ben and Jerry's chocolate flavor ice cream in like, everything. But I thought the cheesecake ice cream tasted more like vanilla ice cream. The core had a more intense cheesecake flavor, which would make sense since it is more dense in texture.

The cookie chunks were about dime-size and were plentiful within the pint. The cookie chunks did not have a crispy "crunch" to them. But I liked all of the flavors put together.

I am still not sure what to think about the core and it's texture. The core flavors do compliment the ice creams well but I am still getting used to it.

Overall, I would give this flavor a 8/10. I liked all of the flavors together. The only down-side is that I would have liked to taste more of a cheesecake flavor in the ice cream.

I currently have 4 more pints in the freezer and I recently went to a scoop shop in Williamsburg, VA and tried a new flavor there. There will be more to come.

As always, thanks for reading and happy eating!

Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale - Ben and Jerry's Review

One of Ben and Jerry's newest flavors is Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale. Just in case you did not know, New Belgium Brewing Company and Ben and Jerry's together developed a beer late last year called Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale. I tried the beer in back in January and the beer was definitely something I never tasted before.

So, when I saw this flavor in ice cream form, I decided to try it.

Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream consists of New Belgium Brown Ale Ice Cream with Fudge Brownie and Salted Caramel Swirls (don't worry - there is no alcohol in it).

I could definitely taste the "hoppy-ness" of the of the beer in the pint. The saltiness is not too overpowering; there is just a hint of it. There were numerous big chunks of fudge brownie in my pint and the texture of them was perfect. The caramel swirls were more like caramel "globs",

Overall, all of the flavors together made for an interesting tasting ice cream.

I would rate this one a 8/10. I prefer ice cream that has a little less of a salty flavor component to it but in this pint the salt does compliment all of the flavors well.

I bought 2 more flavors: "A Swirled of Difference" and "Cake my Day". I also found that my local Kroger has "Empower Mint" so I may pick up a pint of this as well. My local stores do have a good selection of flavors but I have tried most of these flavors already. I will have to try to find other stores with a more widespread selection.

Ben and Jerry's co-founders arrested in DC

Here is the link:

You do not see this from founders/co-founders of major companies, except Ben and Jerry's. I love their activism and participation in important political topics.

Save Our Swirled - Ben and Jerry's Pint Review

After two years of not posting anything secondary to life (aka physical therapy school) getting in the way, I think it is time to review a new flavor. The new flavor is............Save Our Swirled.

Save Our Swirled is "Raspberry Ice Cream with Marshmallow and Raspberry Swirls and Dark and White Fudge Ice Cream Cones.

Save Our Swirled was made to help spread awareness about Ben and Jerry's climate change campaign. It is said that all sales from this flavor support Ben and Jerry's partners in the global climate movement to decrease carbon emissions to increase cleaner air quality and improve our environment.
Now to the ice cream itself. The raspberry swirls reminds me of raspberry jam and there is a good amount of it within the pint. The marshmallow swirl consisted more of marshmallow globs. The raspberry ice cream does not have a strong ice cream flavor and it is not overwhelming. I did not see a lot of white fudge chocolate cones within my pint. The dark fudge chocolate was plentiful and made the flavor whole for me.

Overall, not too exciting of a flavor but it promotes a great cause. I rate it a 7.8/10.
Nevertheless, I love the fact that Ben and Jerry's is more than just an ice cream company and tries to make the world a better place.

Peanut Butter Fudge Core - New Flavor!

Hi everyone! I picked up a pint of Ben and Jerry's at Walmart the other day and decided to give this flavor a try. It is one of their newer flavors and it has the core in it.

Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core is Chocolate & Peanut Butter ice creams with mini peanut butter cups & peanut butter fudge core.

This was my first experience with the core and I think that it is a good concept overall. I thought it would be harder in consistency but it is actually really soft, kind of like a creamy texture. It does flow every well with the flavors of the ice creams.

The core is in the center of the pint (cuts it in half) but the core in my pint doesn't span through the whole pint (as you can see in the picture). I am not sure if it is just supposed to be in just the center of the pint or span the pint's diameter. The core was every small when I first opened it but it got bigger as I dig deeper into the pint.

The ice creams are great as usual. Very creamy and smooth. My one complaint is that I do not really taste the peanut butter ice cream as much. The peanut butter flavor is stronger in the core and the cups. I do really like the mini peanut butter cups with in the pint. I just wish there were more of them. I get a peanut butter cup about once in every 3-4 spoonfuls.

I rate this flavor a 8.2/10. I do like the concept of the core, but I wish it spanned the entire diameter of the pint. I also wish the peanut butter ice cream was a little stronger (I LOVE peanut butter so I really wanted more of the peanut butter flavor to "pop" in this pint).

Happy eating!

Surprise Scoop Shop Visit & Hazed and Confused!

I went home this past week for spring break. My mom just moved to Virginia so we decided to check out the outlets that are close to our house because I needed clothes for my upcoming clinicals. We did some shopping at the Williamsburg Outlets and realized that there is a Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shop in the middle of the outlets!

We went inside the scoop shop and saw that they had Hazed and Confused so of course I had to try it!

Ben and Jerry's Hazed and Confused is hazelnut and chocolate ice creams with fudge chips and a hazelnut fudge swirl. I know that Hazed and Confused is one of the new core ice creams that Ben and Jerry's recently came out with. But the scoop shop version of the flavor does not have a core. They have the hazelnut fudge swirl replacing the core. I guess the cores are only found in the pints?!?!

At first glance, it kind of looks like a vanilla and chocolate ice cream with fudge chunks. I did not notice the hazelnut swirls in the ice cream just by looking at the cup (maybe they were mixed in with the ice cream). I took the first bite and it instantly reminded me of Nutella - no surprise since Nutella is basically a hazelnut and chocolate spread. The hazelnut fudge chunks had a little bit more of a fudge/chocolate taste to them. And there was a plentiful amount of them in the cup. These chunks nicely complimented the hazelnut and chocolate ice cream. After digging deeper into the cup of ice cream, I still really didn't notice the hazelnut swirl. But maybe it was mixed into the ice cream.

Nevertheless, the flavors were not overpowering and this is a great flavor. I love hazelnut (I am actually drinking hazelnut coffee as I am writing this) and chocolate so this was a great combination for me.

I rate this flavor a 8.9/10.

I am going shopping next week sometime to pick up another pint. Hopefully I can find a flavor with the new core at my Walmart.

Thanks for reading and happy eating!

If you like Pina Coladas

I had this flavor a little while ago but here is the review (what I remember from it).

Ben and Jerry's Pina Colada is Coconut Ice Cream with Pineapple Chunks. I think it was only available in the summer months.

The ice cream is smooth, creamy, & has a strong coconut flavor. Not a lot of pineapple chunks, wish there was more. The chunks have a nice crunch to them, even though they aren't frozen, and melt in your mouth. I kind of wish there was something more to the flavor though.

Grade: 8.2/10. Not as extravagant as other Ben and Jerry flavors but it can definitely satisfy a sweet tooth during the summer time.

New Ben and Jerry's flavors!!

I have been MIA (missing in action) for the past several months. I don't like to make excuses but I have been getting into the core of my graduate school work and research (but I feel like that is always my excuse). I also have 7 midterms this week but I needed a break and freaked out when I saw this:

Ben and Jerry's announced that their will be new flavors which will debut this month! The new flavors are Salted Caramel, That's My Jame, Peanut Butter Fudge, and Hazed & Confused.

They are also doing something that insures that every spoonful of their ice cream is perfect. And it is absolute genius. Check it out here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/25/ben-jerrys-core-ice-cream_n_4854680.html

Be on the lookout for these new flavors. I will see if I can get a hand on a new pint within the next week or so (after midterms).

Happy eating!

Liz Lemon Greek FroYo Review!

It has been a long time but here is the review!

Unfortunately, I do not have pictures of the FroYo flavor.

Liz Lemon is Lemon Greek Frozen Yogurt with a Blueberry Lavender Swirl.

When I first tasted this flavor, it reminded me of a creamy Italian Ice. It brought me back to the times where I ate Lemon Italian Ices during the hot summer nights. The lemon flavor is refreshing but it is not overpowering or sour. Regarding the Blueberry Lavender Swirl, I don't really taste the blueberry. I definitely taste the lavender. The swirl does not change the texture of the FroYo and it is swirled throughout the pint (see the picture). I also noticed that the actual Greek FroYo is not as sour as other Ben and Jerry's Greek FroYo flavors that I have tried. Overall, the lemon FroYo with this swirl is an interesting combination.

I give this flavor a 8.5/10. I really like how it reminds me of a Italian Ice. But I do wish that there was a little more "pop" to the flavor.

The next flavor will be Pina Colada!

Until next time, thanks for reading!

Coffee, Coffee Buzz, Buzz, Buzz! Review

It is only fitting that I am reviewing this flavor right before finals week when I need all of the coffee I can get. So here is the review.

Ben and Jerry's Coffee, Coffee Buzz, Buzz, Buzz! is Coffee Ice Cream with Espresso Bean Fudge Chunks.

This flavor is awesome if you love coffee. Like all Ben and Jerry's flavors, the ice cream is very smooth and creamy. But to me, the highlight of the pint is the espresso fudge chunks. They are pretty big and there is a good amount of them in the pint. It is hard to scoop them out of the pint because of their size. I had to let the ice cream "defrost" a little bit in order to scoop them out and to not bend my spoon. But they are very chocolaty and they have the taste of espresso. I liked that the espresso flavor wasn't very overwhelming and it does not override the actual chocolate. The chunks are not soggy or melted and they have a nice crunch to them.

I give this flavor a 9.2/10. It is very simple yet flavorful.

I do not know what my next flavor will be. Finals week is coming which means that I will not have time to review. I am hoping to get a new flavor by the end of July/early August.

Thanks for reading!

Pineapple Passionfruit

Hi everyone. I got sidetracked over the past few months. Graduate school is in full swing. It has literally taken over my life and will continue to take over my life for the next 2 years. I am currently in my summer semester (yes, we have classes in the summer) and I have not been keeping up with this blog (as you all can tell). I am hoping to continue writing reviews about Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and FroYo but the posts will probably be less frequent. With this being said, I say thank you to all of the readers for still reading this blog.

I bought Ben and Jerry's Pineapple Passionfruit Greek Yogurt a few months back. I am finally going to do a review of it.

Ben and Jerry's Pineapple Passionfruit Greek Yogurt consists of pineapple Greek frozen yogurt with chunks of pineapple & a passionfruit swirl. It has sourness taste to it, just like regular Greek froyo. The texture of the froyo kind of reminded me of a creamsicle (like those orange creamsicles that I used to have when I was little). I am a little disappointed though because I do not have pieces of pineapple in my pint. I do not see them or taste them in the pint. I hope that this is not true for other pints of this flavor. Nevertheless, the passionfruit swirl is visible, tasty, and very strong. This swirl gives the pint a tangy taste, which compliments the Greek yogurt's sourness.

This is a very fruity flavor. I feel like it has a refreshing taste for summer. I would rate it a 7.8/10 just because I am missing the pineapple pieces, which are a big component of this flavor. I would probably rate it a 9/10 if it had the pineapple pieces in it.

By the way, I brought back the ratings scale because I was asked in a previous post to start rating the flavors. I am not the best at giving ratings but I will do my best.

I have Coffee, Coffee, Buzz, Buzz, Buzz in my freezer, which will be my next flavor. I am hoping to write a review for this flavor in July.

Thanks again for being patient!
And thanks for reading!

Peanut Butter Cup and 100th Post!

It is fitting that this flavor is the new flavor that I tried this week. I have been on a peanut butter "kick" lately and this definitely helped my craving.

Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup is Peanut Butter Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Cups.

This pint is definitely for the peanut butter fan. It is a relatively simple flavor and it doesn't have a lot of components to it. The peanut butter ice cream is very smooth and creamy just like other Ben and Jerry's ice creams. I thought that the peanut butter ice cream was not very overwhelming or strong. The strong peanut butter taste comes from the actual peanut butter cups in the pint. The chunks of the cups range from small to pretty large. And you cannot forget the chocolate that surrounds the peanut butter in the cup pieces (just like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup). It also looks like there are small pieces of chocolate in the pint as well (maybe from the outside of the peanut butter cup pieces).

As I said in the last post, I tried all of the flavors in my local Walmart. Because of this, I went to Kroger to get new flavors (they also had a sale on Ben and Jerry's!). Since they had a sale going on, I picked up 2 new pints. I was able to get Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz, and the Pineapple Passionfruit Greek FroYo. They had the other new flavors there also but I will only be in Michigan for a few more weeks because the semester ends soon. And I will probably get the new flavors while I am home when the semester ends.

For the next review, I will probably try the Pineapple Passionfruit Greek FroYo. The review should be out sometime next week since I have a BIG test later this week (wish me luck!).

Back from Spring Break with a new flavor...and a favor

Just came back to Michigan a few days ago from Spring Break. It's always nice to be back on the East Coast, even if I spent most of my break working. Regardless of that, it still went by too fast. But it is now time to finish off the semester.

I went to Walmart and picked up Peanut Butter Cup. I noticed that I have tried every Ben and Jerry's flavor at my Walmart! This means that I have to go to my local Kroger instead for Ben and Jerry's. I hope Kroger has more (and different) flavors, including Ben and Jerry's new flavors, which is something that Walmart does not have in stock.

I will be on the look out for "Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz" and their new Greek FroYo flavors "Liz Lemon", "Pineapple Passionfruit", and "Vanilla Honey Caramel".

And here is the favor that I posted in the title:
Other than being a Ben and Jerry's fan, I am a graduate student studying Physical Therapy. There is a petition for adding physical therapists and occupational therapists to the federal loan forgiveness program. If you have time, please sign this petition! It takes a minute. Thanks in advance!!!!

Midterms are over, and it is time for another review!

This week was probably one of the longest weeks that I have ever head. But my midterms are over and now I have time for a review!

The new flavor is Banana Peanut Butter Greek FroYo. I wanted to change it up a little bit from the ice cream.

Ben and Jerry's Banana Peanut Butter Greek FroYo is banana Greek yogurt with peanut buttery swirl.

I find this to be an interesting flavor. As like any type of Greek yogurt, it has a little bit more of a sour taste to it than regular yogurt. The sour-ness from the yogurt and the sweetness of the banana flavor are actually a pretty good match. After tasting this, I wonder why Greek yogurt makers don't make a banana flavor (at least I haven't seen a banana flavor Greek yogurt yet). The peanut butter adds a salty and nutty taste to the pint. The peanut butter swirl wasn't really a swirl in my pint (see picture below). The picture below doesn't show it very well but there is peanut butter in the pint.

I will let you guys know when I get another flavor. I am hoping to find Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz or see if I can get a hand on Candy Bar Pie.

Thanks for reading!

The new flavor is...

Banana Peanut Butter Greek FroYo! I was in the mood for something different so I got a Greek FroYo flavor that I haven't tried yet.

I am hoping to get the review out sometime next week!

Gotta love midterms and clinicals!!!!! (sigh...)

Coffee Heath Bar Crunch!

The flavor this week is Coffee Heath Bar Crunch.

Ben and Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch is Coffee Ice Cream with Chunks of Heath Bars. Heath Bars are English toffee bars which are covered in milk chocolate.

The coffee ice cream is very "beany" and strong. Because of this, it kind of reminds me of Starbucks coffee. The toffee centers of the Heath Bar chunks were melting/oozing out of the chunks and into the ice cream. The milk chocolate from the Heath Bar added a crunchiness to the smooth and creamy texture from the ice cream and the toffee. There are also very small pieces of chocolate in the pint without any toffee filling in them (from the Heath Bar).

I will be going to Walmart tomorrow to pick up a new flavor. I will let you guys know what I get!

Surprise visit home = Delayed Chocolate Fudge Brownie Review!

Well, the title says it all. I was going to post this review a few weeks ago but got side tracked when I went home for a few days because of a surprise extra-long break from school. So now I am finally back and here is the review.

I tried something different this time. I bought a smaller "pint" at Walmart since they were on sale and they had a flavor that I never tried before: Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

This pint is a single serving of Ben and Jerry's. It also comes with its own spoon!! It is very cute (small things are usually cute...am I right?) and it is perfect for just one serving of our favorite ice cream. Just a warning, these small pints are NOT for over-indulging!

Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie consists of Chocolate Ice Cream with Fudge Brownies.

The chocolate ice cream is very rich and I felt like it had a fudge-like taste to it. After tasting the fudge brownie with the ice cream, I really could not tell the two textures apart but you can definitely taste the two different flavors. The brownie gave the pint more of an intense chocolate flavor even though I said earlier that the ice cream had a fudge-like flavor to it. I find this flavor to be very simple because there are not a lot of components to it. This flavor is definitely for the fudge/chocolate lover that just wants that rich, chocolaty flavor.

Thank is it! The next flavor will be Coffee Heath Bar Crunch!

Back at school, which means more flavors!

I have been back at school for just over a week now and I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I had a very fun winter break in which I spent most of my time with my family and friends that I haven't seen in over 4 months. But now it is back to the grind...

I went to Walmart and decided to change it up a bit. Walmart had a sale on Ben and Jerry's mini "pints". They are 3.6 oz "pints" of ice cream and they were $1. I saw Chocolate Fudge Brownie and decided to try it.

I am hoping to get a review out of Chocolate Fudge Brownie sometime this week!

It is Cannoli! Finally! And Happy Holidays!

I finally got my hands on my first pint of Cannoli. I have been waiting for this since the flavor came out in late September. It is amazing how many stores have it here in New York but the closest store to me when I am in Michigan is over 30 miles away. I guess that is what happens when you go to school in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, here is the review.

Ben and Jerry's Cannoli is Mascarpone Ice Cream with Fudge Covered Cannoli Pastry Shell Chunks & a Mascarpone Swirl.

If you like extremely sweet ice cream, this flavor is for you. I found that the mascarpone ice cream is very sweet which is something you notice right away in the first spoonful. There are a lot of fudge covered cannoli pastry shells in the pint. They add a nice crunch to the texture along with adding another level of sweetness to the flavor.

One thing that I did not notice in the pint are the mascarpone swirls. I was thinking that maybe the swirls are blended into the mascarpone ice cream. If that is the case, I can't really tell the difference between the ice cream and the swirl. This could explain why the ice cream seems extra sweet.

I probably will not have another flavor until I go back to Michigan right after New Year's. I will let you guys know when I get the new Ben and Jerry's flavor.

Thanks for reading! Happy Holidays everyone!!!
