Save Our Swirled - Ben and Jerry's Pint Review

After two years of not posting anything secondary to life (aka physical therapy school) getting in the way, I think it is time to review a new flavor. The new flavor is............Save Our Swirled.

Save Our Swirled is "Raspberry Ice Cream with Marshmallow and Raspberry Swirls and Dark and White Fudge Ice Cream Cones.

Save Our Swirled was made to help spread awareness about Ben and Jerry's climate change campaign. It is said that all sales from this flavor support Ben and Jerry's partners in the global climate movement to decrease carbon emissions to increase cleaner air quality and improve our environment.
Now to the ice cream itself. The raspberry swirls reminds me of raspberry jam and there is a good amount of it within the pint. The marshmallow swirl consisted more of marshmallow globs. The raspberry ice cream does not have a strong ice cream flavor and it is not overwhelming. I did not see a lot of white fudge chocolate cones within my pint. The dark fudge chocolate was plentiful and made the flavor whole for me.

Overall, not too exciting of a flavor but it promotes a great cause. I rate it a 7.8/10.
Nevertheless, I love the fact that Ben and Jerry's is more than just an ice cream company and tries to make the world a better place.

Peanut Butter Fudge Core - New Flavor!

Hi everyone! I picked up a pint of Ben and Jerry's at Walmart the other day and decided to give this flavor a try. It is one of their newer flavors and it has the core in it.

Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core is Chocolate & Peanut Butter ice creams with mini peanut butter cups & peanut butter fudge core.

This was my first experience with the core and I think that it is a good concept overall. I thought it would be harder in consistency but it is actually really soft, kind of like a creamy texture. It does flow every well with the flavors of the ice creams.

The core is in the center of the pint (cuts it in half) but the core in my pint doesn't span through the whole pint (as you can see in the picture). I am not sure if it is just supposed to be in just the center of the pint or span the pint's diameter. The core was every small when I first opened it but it got bigger as I dig deeper into the pint.

The ice creams are great as usual. Very creamy and smooth. My one complaint is that I do not really taste the peanut butter ice cream as much. The peanut butter flavor is stronger in the core and the cups. I do really like the mini peanut butter cups with in the pint. I just wish there were more of them. I get a peanut butter cup about once in every 3-4 spoonfuls.

I rate this flavor a 8.2/10. I do like the concept of the core, but I wish it spanned the entire diameter of the pint. I also wish the peanut butter ice cream was a little stronger (I LOVE peanut butter so I really wanted more of the peanut butter flavor to "pop" in this pint).

Happy eating!

Surprise Scoop Shop Visit & Hazed and Confused!

I went home this past week for spring break. My mom just moved to Virginia so we decided to check out the outlets that are close to our house because I needed clothes for my upcoming clinicals. We did some shopping at the Williamsburg Outlets and realized that there is a Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shop in the middle of the outlets!

We went inside the scoop shop and saw that they had Hazed and Confused so of course I had to try it!

Ben and Jerry's Hazed and Confused is hazelnut and chocolate ice creams with fudge chips and a hazelnut fudge swirl. I know that Hazed and Confused is one of the new core ice creams that Ben and Jerry's recently came out with. But the scoop shop version of the flavor does not have a core. They have the hazelnut fudge swirl replacing the core. I guess the cores are only found in the pints?!?!

At first glance, it kind of looks like a vanilla and chocolate ice cream with fudge chunks. I did not notice the hazelnut swirls in the ice cream just by looking at the cup (maybe they were mixed in with the ice cream). I took the first bite and it instantly reminded me of Nutella - no surprise since Nutella is basically a hazelnut and chocolate spread. The hazelnut fudge chunks had a little bit more of a fudge/chocolate taste to them. And there was a plentiful amount of them in the cup. These chunks nicely complimented the hazelnut and chocolate ice cream. After digging deeper into the cup of ice cream, I still really didn't notice the hazelnut swirl. But maybe it was mixed into the ice cream.

Nevertheless, the flavors were not overpowering and this is a great flavor. I love hazelnut (I am actually drinking hazelnut coffee as I am writing this) and chocolate so this was a great combination for me.

I rate this flavor a 8.9/10.

I am going shopping next week sometime to pick up another pint. Hopefully I can find a flavor with the new core at my Walmart.

Thanks for reading and happy eating!

Coffee, Coffee Buzz, Buzz, Buzz! Review

It is only fitting that I am reviewing this flavor right before finals week when I need all of the coffee I can get. So here is the review.

Ben and Jerry's Coffee, Coffee Buzz, Buzz, Buzz! is Coffee Ice Cream with Espresso Bean Fudge Chunks.

This flavor is awesome if you love coffee. Like all Ben and Jerry's flavors, the ice cream is very smooth and creamy. But to me, the highlight of the pint is the espresso fudge chunks. They are pretty big and there is a good amount of them in the pint. It is hard to scoop them out of the pint because of their size. I had to let the ice cream "defrost" a little bit in order to scoop them out and to not bend my spoon. But they are very chocolaty and they have the taste of espresso. I liked that the espresso flavor wasn't very overwhelming and it does not override the actual chocolate. The chunks are not soggy or melted and they have a nice crunch to them.

I give this flavor a 9.2/10. It is very simple yet flavorful.

I do not know what my next flavor will be. Finals week is coming which means that I will not have time to review. I am hoping to get a new flavor by the end of July/early August.

Thanks for reading!

Everything But The... Review!!!

It is that time again: A new review!!! This time the flavor is Everything But The...

Ben and Jerry's Everything But The... is A Collision of Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Creams mixed with Peanut Butter Cups, Heath Bar Chunks, White Chocolatey Chunks and Fudge Covered Almonds.

Wow. All I got to say is wow. There is so much going on in this pint (just look at the picture below!). There are big chunks of peanut butter cups and white chocolate fudge. The fudge covered almonds are smaller but there is still a good amount of them in the pint.

While eating this pint, the best idea that I had was to put a little bit of everything onto one spoonful. The texture and flavor combinations were unreal. The flavors were very intense and it was hard to pinpoint all of them. There was saltiness from the peanut butter cups and almonds, sweetness from the white chocolate fudge chunks and the fudge covering the almonds along with the crunchiness and toffee from the heath bar chunks. You also cannot forget the smooth and creamy chocolate and vanilla ice creams which ties all of the flavors together. It's incredible.

This may be the last review until December. I am not going food shopping this week and Thanksgiving is Thursday. I may not be able to get a new flavor until early next week, after Thanksgiving.

New York Super Fudge Chunk!!!

I am homesick and I miss my home state of New York so I decided to try Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk.

Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk is made of Chocolate Ice Cream with White and Dark Fudge Chocolate, Pecans, Walnuts and Fudge Covered Almonds.

On the back of the pint, it states "...we could make an even more unforgettable impression on New Yorkers if we added more chunks than any other flavor we made". And they do not disappoint this New Yorker.  There are a lot of pecans, walnuts, dark chocolate covered almonds, and fudge chunks in the pint. And the fudge chucks are HUGE. There is a mixture of both dark chocolate and white chocolate fudge. As usual, the chocolate ice cream is very smooth and creamy.

When you add the dark and white fudge chunks with the dark chocolate covered almonds, the combination of all the chocolate flavors and textures hits you and your taste buds. The pecans, walnuts, and almonds add another layer of texture which amplifies the flavor even more. This is a great and intense flavor.

I am still on the lookout for the new B&J flavor Cannoli. According to the #FindCannoli website (http://www.benjerry.com/limited-batch-locator?utm_source=benandjerrys&utm_medium=twitter), the closest place to me is at a Krogers that is 40 miles away. But there is a Krogers 10 minutes away from my place so I am going to go there (either later this week or the weekend) and see if they have the flavor.

Got another flavor...New York Super Fudge Chunk

Went to Walmart yesterday and got this flavor. I am still on the hunt for Cannoli and my Walmart did not have the Pumpkin Cheesecake flavor (BOOO!!!). But I saw this flavor and decided to try it since I am from New York.

I am going to have to find another store to shop at because I have tried most of the flavors that this Walmart carries. I am going to see if Kroger has more flavors. I will probably stop by next week or in 2 weeks to see.

Chocolate Nougat Crunch!!

It has been very warm outside in Connecticut the past few days and this ice cream has really hit the spot!

Ben and Jerry's Chocolate nougat Crunch consists of Sweet Cream Ice Cream with Fudge Covered Wafer Cookies and a Chocolate Nougat Swirl.

The sweet ice cream is really, really, REALLY sweet (which is a good thing). I was almost surprised on how sweet it tasted. But it also has a vanilla-y taste to it which tasted very good. The fudge covered wafer cookies have a crunch to them and are not softened at all by the ice cream. And there is a good amount of fudge covering the cookies. They are bite size and there was a lot of them in my pint.

I was expecting the swirl to be chocolate colored but it is actually a nougat color. I was expecting the swirl to be more chocolate-y but I didn't really taste the chocolate in the swirl. But it was very good nevertheless.

Overall, the flavor is really good. But I feel that the title of the flavor is quite deceiving since there was not a lot of chocolate in it. It may have been my taste buds but the only noticeable chocolate I had tasted was from the fudge covered wafers. I did not really taste a lot of chocolate in the swirl; I feel that the nougat flavor is more overpowering than the chocolate flavor. But it is a really cool flavor regardless.

I need to buy another flavor. I am not sure when I will be able to go food shopping next. I will let you all know when I get another flavor.

Happy Eating!!!

Raspberry Fudge Chunk Greek FroYo!

My second Ben and Jerry's Greek FroYo flavor is Raspberry Fudge Chunk.

Ben and Jerry's Raspberry Fudge Chunk consists of Raspberry Greek Frozen Yogurt with Fudge Chunks.

It seems that the Ben and Jerry's Greek yogurt flavors are not as crazy as the Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Ben and Jerry's Raspberry Fudge Chunk is very simple and the review for this flavor is short and sweet.

One thing I noticed right away was that the raspberry Greek yogurt wasn't as sour as the Ben and Jerry's blueberry Greek yogurt that I had last time (Blueberry Vanilla Graham). For some reason, the raspberry mellows out the sourness.

And the fudge chunks are HUGE! There are a lot of them in the pint. The chunks make the Greek FroYo more sweet which (I think) takes away the sour taste that the Greek yogurt naturally has.

The raspberry Greek yogurt and the fudge chunks together make a simple but very good FroYo flavor. Who doesn't love fudge and raspberries?!

I do not know what my next flavor is going to be. I am going home for spring break and I may or may not be able to get a new pint. If I get a new pint, I will have a review next week. If not, I will post a new review in about 2 weeks when I get back to school (which would be a review of Dublin Mudslide).

Rocky Road-ish!!!

It's Rocky Road time (finally)!!!

Finally writing a new post. Life has been super crazy lately with graduate schools and tests and work. I barely had enough time to eat ice cream!

About 2 weeks ago, I bought 2 flavors, Rocky Road-ish and Dublin Mudslide. I decided to go with Rocky Road-ish because Rocky Road is a classic flavor. Ben and Jerry's Rocky Road-ish consists of Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream with a Toasted Marshmallow Swirl and Fudge Covered Almonds.

The toasted marshmallow ice cream is amazing. You definitely taste the toasted flavor. The toasted marshmallow swirl gives the flavor its "kick" and enhances the marshmallow flavor and makes it more intense. I really like the swirl because has a little bit of the marshmallow texture (airy and fluffy). There are a lot of almonds in it as well. But I do not think that they are full almonds. A lot of the almonds are small and don't have that almond look and shape to it. I think that there are just pieces of almonds, not whole almonds. But nevertheless, almonds are almonds regardless of what shape and size they are.

Overall, I like this flavor. Great mixture of flavors between the fudge, almonds, marshmallow swirl and marshmallow ice cream.

My next flavor is Dublin Mudslide. I hope to get a review of that flavor early next week.

Finally, Banana Split

Here it is Banana Split!

It consists of Banana and Strawberry Ice Cream with Walnuts, Fudge Chunks and Fudge Swirl.

I choose this flavor because I haven't had a banana split in a long time. And buying all of the ingredients to make a banana split would have been pretty expensive (along with the amount of work it would take to actually make the banana split, since I was lazy). I thought that this would be a great (and lazy) alternative to actually making a banana split.

This flavor is pretty good. It doesn't say this in the description but I think that there are actual pieces of strawberries in it as well (you can clearly see the red pieces in the picture). I think this makes the strawberry ice cream more "powerful" than the banana ice cream. But I can still definitely taste the banana ice cream though. The nice thing about having the two flavors is that they complement each other really well. And it tastes awesome.

There is also an abundance of fudge chunks and swirl in the pint, which is great. One thing that I would want more of is the walnuts. I don't know if it was just my pint but there wasn't a lot of walnuts in it. But, I have a feeling that it was just my pint. But other than that, the flavor was pretty good.

I will probably get another flavor sometime next week. I am trying not to go to the supermarket as much as I used to in the fall since I have a lot of money on my meal plan at school. And we do not have Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream at my school =( But I will let you guys know when I get another flavor.

Living the AmeriCone Dream

This weeks new Ben and Jerry's flavor is Stephen Colbert's AmeriCone Dream.

This flavor consists of Vanilla Ice Cream with a Caramel Swirl and Fudge Covered Waffle Cone Pieces.

The flavor was released in 2007. An article from wikipedia states that "Colbert is donating the proceeds from the sale of AmeriCone Dream to charity through The Stephen Cobert AmeriCone Dream Fund. The Fund will support charities of concern to Colbert such as food and medical assistance for disadvantaged children, helping veterans and their familes, and environmental causes".

Let me start with the waffle cones. There is a lot of waffle cone pieces in the pint. You always have a lot of pieces in each spoonfull. And they are all different sizes, not one generic size. Some are big and some are small. And they are crunchy and crisp! I expected the fudge covered cone pieces to be soft and chewy (since the pieces are in the ice cream and the pint was taken in and out of the freezer several times). I thought that would make the texture of the cone pieces softer but they still had the crunchy waffle cone texture.

And the caramel swirl is an understatement (the swirl part that is). The picture doesn't really display it but there is a lot of caramel in the pint. I feel like there is more than a swirl of caramel in the pint.

What I really like about this flavor is that it includes the most simple ice cream ingredients in one spoonful without the messyness of a ice cream cone. There is nothing more traditional that an ice cream cone with vanilla ice cream with caramel and chocolate. And Ben and Jerrys made it easy for everyone to have this traditional flavor without the hassle that comes with carrying a cone of ice cream that is usually very messy. It is also great that the proceeds from the sales of this flavor goes to Colbert's Dream Fund. And what is better than eating ice cream and giving to charity!?!?

That is it for now. I did not buy another pint yet and I am not sure when I will be able to get a new flavor. I will let you guys know when I buy a new pint.

Thanks for reading and happy eating!

New Flavor- Boston Creme Pie

This weeks new flavor is Boston Creme Pie.

Ben and Jerry's Boston Creme Pie is Boston Cream Pie Ice Cream with Yellow Cake Pieces, Fudge Flakes & Swirls of Pastry Cream

Now lets talk about the pint itself. I love how every pint of Ben and Jerry's contains illustrations that are relevent to the flavor (like how the Schweddy Ball's flavor included plaid decoration and SNL signs everywhere). This flavor has the "Go Sawx" and the statue of Paul Revere.

So the flavor itself is awesome. The picture I took doesn't do the flavor justice. It is full of the pastry creme swirl and the yellow cake pieces. You cannot see it in the picture because it blends into the ice cream. Also, there is not a lot of fudge flakes in it but the fudge should not be the main flavor in the ice cream. It inhances all of the other flavors from the pastry swirls and yellow cake pieces. The yellow cake pieces add a different texture to the ice cream, which is something I am a big fan of. Like all of the other Ben and Jerry's pints, the individual textures and flavors of this ice cream mesh very well together to make one insane flavor.

Great flavor, great ice cream. Definitely pick up the pint at your local scoop shop or supermarket. You won't regret it.

The next flavor is Milk and Cookies. Cannot wait to try it.
I will try to write a review for it next week.
