Cinnamon Bun!!!

Now that the holidays are mostly over, I am making a new review.

This week's flavor is Cinnamon Bun.

This flavor consists of Caramel Ice Cream with Cinnamon Bun Dough and Cinnamon Streusel Swirl.

I liked this flavor. I had this flavor just before the holidays and it was the perfect flavor for me to get into the holiday spirit (I always loved cinnamon during the holidays or the winter).
There was a blast of cinnamon flavor once I opened the lid to the pint. I took a bite of the ice cream and I loved the texture of it. The ice cream was every cinnamon-y and smooth. Then the chunks of the cinnamon bun dough change the texture. It kind of reminded me of the Milk and Cookies flavor (which was my last review) in that sense.
I also liked that there were HUGE chunks of the dough in my pint. I wonder if that is the case in all of the other pints of this flavor.
The cinnamon streusel swirl makes the flavor even more intense. You can tell that the swirl is there in the pint and there is a lot of it. The swirl also adds to the ever changing texture of the ice cream.

Well, that is it for now. I probably will not have a review for a few weeks now until I get back to school. I am home for winter break so I probably won't be able to get my hands on a new pint for a little while. We do have some Ben & Jerry's pints in the house but they are all flavors that I have tried and reviewed already. And it will take me a while to eat them and get more pints because I am trying to get over a cold and a bad stomach bug (which is one of the only things that, unfortunately, B&J ice cream can't fix).

So, hopefully I will get a new review in mid January. I hope everyone has a great New Year and eats a lot of B&J ice cream!

Thanks for reading!

Milk and Cookies!!!!

Finals week is over so I can write my review on Milk and Cookies!

Ben and Jerry's Milk and Cookies consists of Vanilla Ice Cream with a Chocolate Cookie Swirl, Chocolate Chip & Chocolate Chocolate (yes that is right, double chocolate) Chip Cookies.

This flavor has so much stuff in it. There is not a dull bite in this pint. Every bite consists of chocolate chips, cookie pieces and the cookie swirl. The vanilla acts as the "milk". I love the fact there is both chocolate chip and chocolate chocolate chip cookies. The best part of the ice cream is that there are actual CHUNKS of cookies in here as well! And the cookie pieces are not soggy like when you dip cookies into milk. They are crunchy which adds an extra texture to the ice cream. The swirl adds to the extreme cookie flavor.

I really liked this flavor. I even told my friend about the flavor. He bought it and he now loves it as well.
Definitely go out and try this flavor if you haven't already done so.

My next flavor will be Cinnamon Buns. I should have a review next week.
Thanks for reading!

Finals week is almost here which means...

probably won't be able to post any new reviews for another week. I just finished Milk and Cookies today so that will be my next review. I will try to get the review up by the end of next week (December 14 or later). To every college student out there, good luck with finals!

New Flavor- Boston Creme Pie

This weeks new flavor is Boston Creme Pie.

Ben and Jerry's Boston Creme Pie is Boston Cream Pie Ice Cream with Yellow Cake Pieces, Fudge Flakes & Swirls of Pastry Cream

Now lets talk about the pint itself. I love how every pint of Ben and Jerry's contains illustrations that are relevent to the flavor (like how the Schweddy Ball's flavor included plaid decoration and SNL signs everywhere). This flavor has the "Go Sawx" and the statue of Paul Revere.

So the flavor itself is awesome. The picture I took doesn't do the flavor justice. It is full of the pastry creme swirl and the yellow cake pieces. You cannot see it in the picture because it blends into the ice cream. Also, there is not a lot of fudge flakes in it but the fudge should not be the main flavor in the ice cream. It inhances all of the other flavors from the pastry swirls and yellow cake pieces. The yellow cake pieces add a different texture to the ice cream, which is something I am a big fan of. Like all of the other Ben and Jerry's pints, the individual textures and flavors of this ice cream mesh very well together to make one insane flavor.

Great flavor, great ice cream. Definitely pick up the pint at your local scoop shop or supermarket. You won't regret it.

The next flavor is Milk and Cookies. Cannot wait to try it.
I will try to write a review for it next week.
Thanks for reading!

I am home from school for the Thanksgiving week and my mom picked up this flavor for me.
I am excited to try it

Schweddy Balls!!!

No one can resist Ben and Jerry's Schweddy Balls.
Here it is! One of Ben and Jerry's new flavors Schweddy Balls!

Schweddy balls is Vanilla Ice Cream with a Hint of Rum and Loaded with Fudge Covered Rum and Malt Balls. The pint container was pretty cool. They have the cow saying "Season's Eatings" in the top left corner of the picture (for those of you who don't know, that saying is from the SNL skit). It has the plaid as the background for the name (from Alec Baldwin's shirt). And the cow with the Saturday Night Live shirt on.

Just a little note about the flavor

I really liked the flavor. Some of my friends tried it and they said it was just OK but I really liked it. The vanilla doesn't look like there is rum in it (from the picture) but you can definitely taste it. I think it somehow inhances the vanilla flavor and makes the flavor stronger and more intense.

There are a lot of schweddy balls in the pint. They are scattered throughout the pint. You probably won't get one in every spoonful but there are plenty in the pint itself. Let me just say that they were bigger than I expected. Some of them were soft and some of them were hard and all of them were a little misshapen (lol). I think that the malt flavor overtakes the rum flavor in the balls though (which is not really a bad thing since the vanilla has the rum flavor in it).

I really like this flavor. I hope that Ben and Jerry's keeps it and don't put it into the graveyard. I wouldn't even mind if they allowed the flavor to come back every year for the holidays. It could be like a tradition, which I think would be very cool.

Happy Season's Eatings everyone!!!

It's Clusterfluff!!

Here is Clusterfluff. Great flavor, especially if you are a huge peanut butter or peanut fan (like myself).

Clusterfluff is Peanut Butter Ice Cream with Caramel Cluster Pieces, Marshmellow Swirls and Peanut Buttery Swirls.

Let me just say that this flavor is EXTREMELY peanut buttery. It felt like I was intoxicated and overcomed by the peanut butter smell when I first opened it. It was so strong and I wasn't expecting it! This actually made me believe that the caramel cluster pieces were just pieces of peanut butter or peanut chunks!
Speaking of the rest of the pint, I don't really taste the marshmellow swirls. I think the peanut butter swirl (along with the peanut butter ice cream) overpowers the marshmellow swirl (at least in my pint).

Overall, great flavor if you are a peanut or peanut butter fan. This is not for you if you don't really love peanut butter since I believe that the peanut butter is very strong.

I will be trying Ben and Jerry's new flavor Schweddy Balls next. I will try to get a review up ASAP because it is a new flavor.

I FOUND SCHWEDDY BALLS!!!!

Actually my suitemate found it at Shoprite in our town. Can't believe I didn't look there lol. Apparently they had a lot of different flavors as well. I will try the flavor after I finish Clusterfluff (which is alomost done by the way). The Clusterfluff post will be up in a few days.

BEN AND JERRY'S QUESTION?!?!

Do you guys think if Ben and Jerry's would send me their flavors from the graveyard if i tell them about my goal to eat all of their flavors?

Monday, October 24, 2011

S'mores!!!

So midterms are finally over (gotta love having 5 tests in 3 days). Being under all the stress from midterms, I had to eat a B&J flavor that contained A LOT of chocolate. So I tried and just finished Ben and Jerry's S'mores.

S'mores is Chocolate Ice Cream with Fudge Chunks, Toasted Marshmellow and a Graham Cracker Swirl.
It has a lot in it and you can definately taste all of the ingredients in one spoonful.

In my pint there, was A LOT of graham cracker swirl (the big tan circle/oval thing in the middle of the pint). It wasn't really swirled into ice cream but it was good nevertheless. There wasn't a lot of marshmellow swirl in my pint though. Oohhh well. You can see the chocolate fudge chunks in the ice cream. There were a lot of them.

Overall, great flavor combinations and taste.
Next flavor is Clusterfluff.
I will try to get a review out faster this time.

Finally finished Red Velvet Cake

So that took forever!! I just finished most of my graduate school applications (thank goodness) so I may have more time to blog!!
I also think I am going to stop rating the ice cream flavors. They are all so good that the ratings don't really mean too much.

I also finished eating B&J Red Velvet Cake.

This flavor is pretty good. It is very smooth even with the red velvet cake pieces in it. Nothing really "pops out" in this flavor. It just meshes together nicely and the cake melts in your mouth just like the ice cream.

You can clearly see the chunks of cake in the ice cream. It's like ice cream and cake in one (which is awesome!).

Can't even see the cream cheese frosting swirl but trust me; it is there
Well, there you have it. Another flavor done and a ton more to go.
I just bought Clusterfluff and Smores this weekend so the next review will be one of those flavors

So no B&J Scweddy Balls in my local supermarket

No happy about this. But I did get B&J Red Velvet Cake instead. I may have to check out other supermarkets to see if they have the flavor.

I need to get a new flavor!

Wondering what flavor I should get next. Not sure. I will look for B&J's new flavor "Schweddy Balls" ice cream at my local Stop and Shop. I can't wait to try it.
I also got a $1 off 2 pints of B&J coupon on their facebook page. Go check it out; the coupon is good for like a month!!
I am hoping to go to the store later this week or early next week, depending on my schedule with classes and tests.
So, if you guys have any flavor suggestions let me know =)
Thanks,
SC

Strawberry Cheesecake! Yummmmmm

So I think I am going to make new posts on Sundays from now on since I do not have a lot of time during the week. I will also start posting pictures as well =)

Let's cut to the chase: I went food shopping last week-ish and picked up this flavor. I love cheesecake and strawberries so I said "Why not?"

B&J's Strawberry Cheesecake consists of "Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream with Strawberries & a Thick Graham Cracker Swirl". It is hard to see the graham crackers in it but you can definitely taste it.

I find this flavor unique because this is perfect for when you don't have or don't want to make strawberry cheesecake (or run to the Cheesecake Factory for an overprice slice). It tastes exactly like strawberry cheesecake.

The ice cream is very smooth even with the strawberries and graham cracker swirl. The strawberries are very finely cut which is awesome if you don't like big chucks of fruit in your ice cream. The graham cracker swirl adds an extra sweetness to the flavor.

I rate this flavor a 9.5/10. It is a great flavor. I didn't give it a 10/10 because unlike my favorites (Phish Food or Bonnaroo Buzz), there wasn't anything very "out of the ordinary" of the flavor (in texture or flavor, contents in the ice cream, etc). But it is still a very good flavor and I would by it again.

I FINALLY GOT A NEW FLAVOR!!!

The last couple of weeks have been crazy. It consisted of work, volunteering 6 hours a day, packing my life into boxes (again), moving back to school, and applying for graduate schools. And also trying to prepare for my senior year of college.

I moved back into my dorm room on the August 27th. Because of Hurricane Irene, the power in the dorms were going on and off. Fortunately, during the middle of last week, the power situation in my dorm room was finally settled and restored for good (no more random and spontaneous power outages while cooking, showering, etc).

Because of this, I stopped by Stop and Shop and they had so many different flavors of Ben and Jerry's. I literally stood there for like 5 minutes trying to decide what flavor I wanted. I finally chose STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE. I love cheesecake so I could not resist.

Also, I will start posting pictures of the B&J ice cream starting with the Strawberry Cheesecake. I now have a working camera (thank goodness).

I will be posting my review of Strawberry Cheesecake later in the week.

The B&J Fanatic is back!!!

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately

I just moved back to school and I am doing a lot of stuff for my grad school applications.
I also haven't bought any ice cream recently because of Hurricane Irene. My dorm's power has been going on and off the past few days so I don't want to buy ice cream and have it melt all over my freezer. So I am hoping I will get some ice cream by this weekend but it depends on the power.
Sorry guys!!! =(

Bonnaroo Buzz!

I was looking through the freezer/ice cream/Ben and Jerry's section at Target and I found this flavor. It looked really interesting so I wanted to try it ASAP. So here is the review.

Bonnaroo Buzz was created by Ben and Jerry's as was a result of a joint partnership with The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, a 4-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee (http://www.bonnaroo.com/).

"Bonnaroo with donate a share of their proceeds to the Bonnaroo Works Fund whose goal is to further the organization's community investment and philanthropic endeavors." (http://www.benjerry.com/bonnaroobuzz/)

Bonnaroo Buzz consists of "Coffee and Malt Ice Creams with Whiskey Caramel Swirls and English Toffee Pieces." Not your average ice cream flavor to say the least.

This flavor will make your taste buds explode. The coffee and malt ice creams together are very creamy and the two flavors blend together sooooo well. Then there is the whiskey caramel swirl. This put everything over the top. It is not overwhelming, so you can still taste the two ice creams. And it is not too caramel-y; it doesn't stick to your teeth and it is not in "gobs". It is a "swirl" that is mixed in between the coffee and malt ice creams.   And last but not least; the English Toffee Pieces. These weren't very visible in the flavor (at least I didn't think so) but you can definitely taste it.

Overall, this flavor is very good. I rate it a 10/10 because of its originality and uniqueness (I have never seen and ice cream like this before). I will definitely buy this again in a heartbeat.

Half Baked!!!!

So simple but so good. Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream mixed with Fudge Brownies and Gobs of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

According to the Ben & Jerry's website, "the insider story on this flavor (Half Baked) was the code name "Drakes Mistakes", Drake Wallis is the St. Albans plant manager. He came to work and reported that he was at a scoop shop over the weekend and witnessed people ordering two different flavors in the same dish".

What is great about this flavor is that you get the best of both worlds; chocolate and vanilla ice cream. So, you get the creamy and smooth ice cream and then come the fudge brownies and chocolate chip cookie dough. It's a nice change of texture and it works great with one another (how can you go wrong with this combo??). And another thing I usually stress about in my reviews is the amount of pieces of fudge brownie and gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough. In this flavor, there is plenty of brownies and dough gobs which fill up each spoonful.

My rating of this flavor: 9.5/10. It is not my favorite flavor there (unlike Chunky Monkey and Phish Food), but it is still pretty good nevertheless.

New Flavor...HALF BAKED!!!

Sorry that I didn't post last night. I had a family party thing that I had to go to. So i had to delay my post.
This weeks flavor is Half Baked. Can't wait to try it =)

CHUNKY MONKEY!!!!

It's a B&J classic. And this was the first time I tried it. Chunky Monkey consists of Banana ice cream with fudge chunks and walnuts (my mouth is watering already).

When I opened the pint, my naive self thought "Where is the yellow ice cream?" (since banana's are yellow on the outside). The ice cream was like an off-white color, which means that they didn't add any artificial stuff in it to make it look like yellow ice cream (since the actual banana is the off-white color). And you cannot go wrong with the fudge chunks as well (banana and chocolate is an awesome combo). The one thing I wasn't certain about was the walnuts. I do not like walnuts very much. But I feel like the overall flavor of the ice cream wouldn't be complete if there weren't any walnuts in it. The combination of the ice cream, fudge, and walnuts are PERFECT together. And all of the flavors were represented in every spoonful.

So I rate this flavor 10/10. What can I say, it is just an awesome flavor. Definitely one of my favorites

It's Sunday again!!! You know what that means!! New Flavor!!!

Tonight, I will be having Chunky Monkey, a classic Ben and Jerry's flavor. I have actually never had this flavor before (weird right?? I know) but it is a classic.

Well after about 5 days, I am finally posting a review

It's been a few days but I am finally posting a review on Chocolate Macadamia.

Chocolate Macadamia is "vanilla and chocolate ice cream with fudge covered macadamia nuts". I didn't really find anything extraordinary about this flavor. In some spoonfuls, there is just chocolate and vanilla ice cream mixed together. And then you get the macadamia nut in another spoonful. It is nothing special in my opinion (in the name of the ice cream) or the flavors.

I rate this 6/10. The ice cream was still better than any other brand but there was just nothing special about it. Because of this, Chocolate Macadamia is a short review.

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Well, that was good!!!

"Imagine Whirled Peace" is a great flavor. I finished the pint last night. I will be trying "Chocolate Macadamia" flavor next =)

Monday, July 11, 2011

Next flavor...Imagine Whirled Peace!

Imagine Whirled Peace came into the ice cream world in 2008. This is the first time I tried the flavor. On the pint, it states  "caramel & sweet cream ice creams swirled with fudge peace signs & toffee cookie pieces".

From B&J's website "When Ben & Jerry’s wanted to talk about peace, we couldn’t think of a better person to exemplify the message than John Lennon. Through his art and lyrics he imagined a world without war and asked us all to ‘Give Peace a Chance’. We hope this whirly mixture of toffee cookies and fudge peace signs enlightens your bellies and souls and makes you ask what you can do to promote peace in your lives".

From the first bite, I fell in love with this flavor. The fudge "peace sign" pieces remind me of "phish food" but the ice cream is totally different in flavor (duh). The toffee cookie pieces are not overpowering and i loved the combination of the two ice creams. What was great about it was that all of the flavors were balanced with one another. Every mouthful was so good and I couldn't stop eating it!!

The one thing I would add to it is more fudge peace signs. Maybe other pints have more pieces but it just seemed like there was not a lot of the fudge circles in my pint.

I rate this pint 9.5/10 only because I was hoping for more fudge peace signs in the pint. Other than that, this flavor is definitely worth buying.

This week's flavor is...PHISH FOOD

One of my all time favorite B&J flavors.

The flavor was launched on February 20, 1997. It consists of chocolate ice cream with caramel & marshmallow swirls and fudge fish. Ben and Jerry's announced that all of the proceeds of Phish Food sales would be donated to environmental work to restore Lake Champlain (source: http://phish.net/faq/phood).

The name of the flavor was named after the Vermont based band Phish. The ice cream was originally called Moby Dick and had alternate ingredients. B&J saw the potential for another music-based ice cream similar to Cherry Garcia (source: http://phish.net/faq/phood)

Phish Food even has a Facebook fan page with over 19,000 fans http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ben-Jerry-Phish-Food/55724794313

Once you open this pint up, you can't stop eating it. I eat all of the flavors with nothing on them (only the ice cream, no sprinkles, whip cream, etc). The texture of the ice cream is second to none and you can actually taste the caramel and marshmallows. There isn't a overabundance of any flavor; everything is balanced. One bite and you are hooked.

And the best part is the fudge "phish". One of the things I like to do is to take a spoonful of ice cream with a fudge phish and get the fudge fish by itself and eat it. I have been doing that since I was a kid.

So my rating is a 10/10 (I am also biased because this is one of my favs lol)
If you haven't tried this flavor yet, you are missing out.

So I made another blog about one of my favorite thinngs

BEN AND JERRY'S ICE CREAM!!!!!!!
So I am on a quest to try all of the Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavors produced. I know that some of them are discontinued but I will try my best to try all of the flavors they have. I will "critique" (I am not a professional food critic but I do love ice cream) each flavor to the best of my ability. I will try to buy a new flavor every week. I hope that you can join me for the fun and to share the love for the greatest desert in the world.
